Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans shared its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
