Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
