Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the team's 10-match winless start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the Wolves board as they start the process of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
