Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday is an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured England's top flight in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he explained to the podcast host: “I said I will never coach any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations must arise to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, that’s nice. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits in the building. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that won the league last campaign. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in every contest after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for all the boys too. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
